Guest on “Walter Edgar’s Journal” program
Was truly amazing to be a guest on the “Walter Edgar’s Journal” program, especially after having been a fan of it and its host for years. Dr. Walter Edgar is not only the most preeminent historian of the American South, he is also a renowned author, gifted radio host and just a general all-around great guy who has a way of putting you at ease.
And for him to open the segment by reading a passage from “Flowers for the Living”–holy smokes, it doesn’t get much better than that.
Actually, come to think of it, it does, because the day after the interview, I realized something Dr. Edgar happened to mention about the antebellum period in South Carolina was a crucial piece of information I didn’t even realize I needed for a historical novel I’m working on. His chance comment resulted in a big piece of the novel falling into place.
Just goes to show you that inspiration can be handed to you when you least expect it. Thank you, Dr. Edgar!
The program will air in December. Once a date is firmed, I’ll post it along with a link to its podcast.
