Transform Your Brain Through Meditation
If you are quiet enough, you will hear the flow of the universe. You will feel its rhythm. Go with this flow. Happiness lies ahead. Meditation is the key.
It’s true, you can literally change your brain for the better through meditation. Sara Lagar, PhD, with Harvard Medical School, has led groundbreaking research that shows meditating regularly increases the gray matter in the frontal cortex which improves cognitive skills. It also expands the temporo parietal junction which is the area of the brain associated with empathy and compassion. While expanding these two areas, meditating shrank the amygdala, the part of the brain related to anxiety, fear and overall stress.
So meditating makes you mentally sharper, more compassionate, and less stressed. The other great thing about meditating is that there are as nearly as many ways to do it as there are people. While many people find that the traditional way—sitting with their eyes closed while focusing on the breath or repetitive word such as “Peace” works—so does nearly anything repetitive action on which you can direct your attention to, everything from kneading bread to mowing your yard. The possibilities for a better brain and improved wellness are truly endless.
