What Saves You?
When I am among the trees,
especially the willows and the honey locust,
equally the beech, the oaks and the pines,
they give off such hints of gladness.
I would almost say that they save me, and daily.
Just the sight of trees soothes me. Taking long walks among them is even better. Had it not been for their presence, I don’t know how I would’ve gotten through tough times, the worst of which were the unexpected deaths of my brother at age 47 from a heart attack and my sister at age 53 from complications from diabetes.
When grief or other emotions threaten to overwhelm me, a long walk through the woods regularly saves me. What does for you?
