I used to be a news junkie. All it took was for me to hear some anchor person to announce, “Breaking news!”, to fixate me to the TV screen. After a while, though, I started noticing the effect it had on me, and it was usually bad. I’d feel anxious, depressed, overwhelmed with the sense that there were horrible things that I had no control over.
As a result, I’ve learned that in order to protect my wellbeing, I have to limit how much news I watch, usually no more than 15 minutes or so each day, especially during this very alarming period of the Coronavirus pandemic. Disconnecting from unnerving media has given me more time to reconnect to the healing natural world, and I feel much better for it.
